To the Serbian Government,
Athens, 13th August 2008
Athens, 13th August 2008
The organization "Citizens for the Rights of Nature and Life" expresses its outmost indignation about the appalling and inhumane capture and death which is administered in many cruel ways, by the Government authorities, to the astray dogs and cats in the Republic of Serbia. Ιt came to our understanding that through a fear of disease and with a lack of knowledge and, quite often, suitable and adequate resources, many authorities throughout Serbia use the most barbarically cruel and ineffective methods of stray animal population control. Not only that but once captured by the "Shinters" (animal catching) teams, animals are often confined to cages without any food or water for many days prior to their deaths.
The image of these poor and wretched beings living in hellish conditions, reflects and mirrors the mind, heart and soul of a country with its people and its government. And such an image does not match with a modern democratic European country bur rather with a middle-aged and dictatorial one.
Therefore, we urge you to take immediate steps to provide and secure good living conditions to these animals and organize an adoption strategy for them in order to live free, healthy and happy as they deserve it.
Sincerely,
Citizens for the Rights of Nature and Life
